Working Capital Finance

Working capital is the difference between what your business owes right now and what it is owed. When that gap turns negative — even briefly — it can stall operations. A short-term working capital loan covers the shortfall so trading continues without interruption.

When businesses use working capital finance

Slow-paying customers have extended your credit terms. A large order has absorbed stock and labour costs before you have invoiced. Suppliers are demanding upfront payment that your bank account cannot currently cover. A busy season requires you to hold more stock than your current cash position allows.

Working capital finance is not for long-term capital investment — it is for the operational cash-flow gap that every trading business encounters at some point.

Common speirins

Is working capital finance the same as an overdraft?

It serves a similar function — covering short-term cash shortfalls — but the mechanics differ. Our loan is a lump sum at a fixed rate for a fixed term. An overdraft is a revolving credit line where you pay interest only on what you draw. Our Credicorp Flex product is closer to an overdraft; the Business Bridging Loan is a working capital loan.

Can I use it to pay wages?

Yes. Payroll is one of the most common working capital uses. See also our dedicated Payroll Finance page for more detail on that specific use case.

What if I need more than £250,000?

Our maximum single drawdown is £250,000. For larger requirements, speak to our team — we may be able to structure a solution or suggest an appropriate specialist lender.

How is this different from a standard business loan?

Terminology differs between lenders. At Credicorp, our short-term business bridging loan is a working capital loan — unsecured, no personal guarantee, fixed term and rate.
